Title: Quantum nature of the nanoscale-ring and linear-chain ferrimagnets

Abstract:

We have investigated quantum nature of several ferrimagnets from various viewpoints as typical cases of quantum many-body systems. From among our works, we present two fundamental issues. One is our proposal of the spin-density reference method, namely a way to determine the effective spin model from the result of the ab-initio calculation. We demonstrate the usefulness of this method in determining the effective spin model for a nanoscale ferrimagnet [Mn(hfac)_{2}NITPh]_{6}. The other is our study of quantum phase transitions of linear-chain ferrimagnets. We examine some kinds of correlation functions by means of the numerical diagonalization. We successfully capture the transitions and the critical behavior near the transition points. Our findings give a good foothold for understanding quantum phenomena in the ferrimagnetic spin systems.
