Title: Griffiths wing associated with electronic nematic phase transition

Abstract:

A phase transition can be controlled by a spatial xy anisotropy generated by uniaxial pressure, epitaxial strain, and orthorhombicity due to the underlying crystal structure. An electronic nematic order couples directly to such an anisotropy, which is thus expected to play a crucial role in a system exhibiting nematicity. In this talk [1], we report an electronic nematic phase transition in the presence of anisotropy by applying a mean-field theory and a functional renormalization-group scheme. A mean-field phase diagram turns out to be very sensitive to nematic order-parameter fluctuations. We discuss implications for various materials such as cuprates, ruthenates, quasi-one-dimensional metals, and cold atoms.
